Jukta Front to carry out countrywide campaign for democracy

Jukta Front, led by Dr Badruddoza Chowdhury, will carry out a mass campaign and hold mass rallies across the country in September to mobilise public support against ‘undemocratic’ forces.

Jukta front leaders took the decision at a meeting at its chairman B Chowdhury’s Baridhara residence on Wednesday.

The meeting elaborately discussed the next course of action of the platform.

As per the decision of the meeting, Jukta Front leaders will hold organisational meetings and public rallies in all divisions, districts and upazilas after the Eid-ul-Azha and those will continue throughout September.

“The main objective of the mass campaign and rallies is to intensify people’s united dive against the undemocratic forces,” said a press release.

The meeting decided to unite the country’s people to create a national spirit against repression, despotism and undemocratic activities, and encourage people in positive politics.

It will also welcome all the political parties, professionals and civil society members believe in positive politics.

The Jukta Front leaders condemned and protested the repression on the students who waged a movement seeking safe roads.

They demanded the government release the arrested students before the Eid-ul-Azha allowing them to enjoy the festival with their family members.

Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) President ASM Abdur Rob, Nagorik Oikya convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna, Bikalpa Dhara general secretary Abdul Mannan, and JSD general secretary Abdul Malek Ratan, among others, spoke at the meeting with B Chowdhury in the chair.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Jukta Front leaders paid tributes to architect of Bangladesh Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and prayed for salvation of the departed souls of his family members who were assassinated along with him on August 15, 1975.
