A Dhaka court will pass its order on Sunday on a petition filed by BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia seeking bail in a defamation case over her 'derogatory remarks' about freedom fighters and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
District and Session’s Judge Abdul Ahad Sheikh fixed the date on Thursday on completion of the hearing on the bail pleas.
Lawyer Masum Ahmed Talukder, international affairs secretary of BNP, filed the bail petition on behalf of Khaleda.
Earlier, on July 29, the court fixed August 2 for hearing her bail petition.
On December 21, 2015, Khaleda Zia at a discussion at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh raised questions about the actual number of Liberation War martyrs saying, "There're controversies over how many were martyred in the Liberation War. There're also many books and documents on the controversies."
Reacting over the Khaleda's remarks, RaihanFarooque Imam of Naragati filed a case with the Cognisance Court on December 24, 2015.
