Dhaka University suspends 7 students over derogatory remarks on teacher

Dhaka University (DU) authorities have suspended seven students of Psychology department for different terms for making derogatory remarks on Facebook about Dr AKM Rezaul Karim, a professor of the department, reports UNB.

The decision was made at the last syndicate meeting held on July 10, said DU proctor Prof AKM Golam Rabbani on Monday.

The suspended students are Khairun Nesa, Umme Habiba Tanjila, Minhajul Abedin, Fatima, Samira Mahjabin, Abdullah Hil Baki and Aditi Sarkar.

Of them, Khairun Nesa and Minhajul Abedin were suspended for one year and others for six months.

Quoting department sources UNB said the suspended students vented their anger at Prof Rezaul Karim on Facebook after he punished them during the semester final examination in December last and one of them called him 'bald' in the comment section.
