Rohingya woman held in Joypurhat

Joypurhat: Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained a Rohingya woman along with her minor boy from Bhuidoba bordering area in Panchbibi upazila on Friday while trying to enter India, reports UNB.

The detainee is Sanjida Begum, 27, wife of Aminullah of Rengua in Myanmar.

Farid Hossain, officer-in-charge of Panchbibi Police Station, said on information that a Rohingya couple was staying at Bhuidoba village to enter Indian territory, a BGB team conducted a drive there around 2pm.

During the drive, the paramilitary force detained Sanjida along with her one and half years’ old boy. However, her husband Aminullah along with their other son managed to enter Indian by this time, the OC said, adding that the Rohingya couple fled from the Balukhali camp in Ukhiya upazila of Cox’s Bazar.
