COX’S BAZAR: Four persons including three Rohingyas were killed and four others injured in a road accident at Ukhia upazila in the district on Monday morning.

The deceased were identified as Rozina Akter, 26, wife of Manjur Alam of Pashchim Para in Ukhia, Rohingya women Nur Kayes, 25, wife of Mahmudur Rahman of Balukhali camp, Taslin Akter, 20, wife of Abdul Hamid of Leda camp, and her 27-day-old daughter Moshrafa Akter.

The injured were Helal Uddin, 21, Fatema Akter, 27, Hamidur Rahman, 13, and Anwara, 25.

Sources said the accident occurred when an overloaded bamboo-laden truck fell into a pothole and overturned on a CNG-run auto-rickshaw and an easy-bike in TV Tower area under the upazila at around 9:30am.

The accident left the four killed on the spot and four others injured.

On information, members of Bangladesh Army and police rushed to the spot and rescued the injured.

Ukhia Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Nikaruzzaman said the injured were sent to different hospitals for medication.

Movement of vehicles through the road remained suspended for around two hours after the accident, the sources said.
