A fire that broke out at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport’s departure terminal on Sunday evening has been brought under control.
The fire might have been caused from an electrical device’s fault but “we are trying to ascertained reason behind it,” Mamun Mahmood, an Assistant Director (Dhaka) of Fire Service and Civil Defence told journalist.
According to fire official, seven units of Fire Service were working on the spot to bring the fire under control.
Sources at the Airport said panic gripped the passengers and on-duty people of the departure hall when smoke started spreading at around 6:00 pm.
Operation of the airport remained normal but only immigration activities were halted for around half an hour, said Senior ASP Md Ziaul Hoque of Airport Armed Police.
Being informed, seven units of firefighters rushed to the spot but did not get any flame, said Mamun Mahmood.
“We did not find any flame but only smoke,” he said
