Eid passengers travelling through Shimulia Ghat, one of the main gateways to the southern region, are happy over the services being provided by Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD).

FSCD personnel are helping passengers, specially women, children and elderly persons, to get into sea boats and launches at Shimulia Ghat located on the Dhaka-Mawa highway.

They are distributing awareness leaflets to the passengers. They also launched another campaign for safety of passengers.

A team of FSCD led by its deputy assistant director (Munshiganj) Md Mostofa Mohsin is working relentlessly to provide the services to Eid passengers from June 11. The team will continue its activities till June 24.

During a visit to Shimulia Ghat on Wednesday evening, this correspondent observed that Mostofa Mohsin is passing busy time by providing required services to the passengers.

Fire Service personnel are providing such service to the passengers here for last three years. Passengers expressed their satisfaction to this correspondent in this regard.

A passenger named Ashraf Hossain said: “If we get such service round-the-year then the sufferings of passengers will lessen to a great extent.”

The FSCD deputy assistant director said: “According to a directive of the DG of Fire Service, Brigadier General Ali Ahmed Khan, and under the supervision of the director of operations of FSCD, Major AKM Shakil Newaz, we are working throughout the country, including Shimulia Ghat, in a bid to evade accidents during people’s Eid journey.”

“Fire Service personnel will feel pride if the passengers get the least service from us. We hope our services will continue in the coming days too,” he added.
