Veteran stage actor, director and playwright Ataur Rahman stepped into the 78th year on Monday.
Greetings poured in for the noted dramatist from his fans, friends and family members from across the globe on the occasion.Ataur Rahman was born in Noakhali on June 18, 1941. He is a Bangladeshi stage and television actor.
He was awarded Ekushey Padak in 2001 by the Government of Bangladesh for his contribution to drama. He completed his master's in Soil Science from the University of Dhaka in 1965.
Rahman served as the general secretary and later president of Bangladesh Centre of the International Theatre Institute (BCITI).
He is the founder general secretary of the theater troupe Nagorik Natya Sampradaya. He is a former chairman of Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation.
Rahman directed over 30 plays including Roktokorobi, Banglar Mati Banglar Jol, Narigon, Irsha, Opekkhoman, and Waiting for Godot.
