At least eight people were killed and six others injured in Saidpur after a passenger bus hit behind a pickup carrying young holiday makers, on Sunday night, local correspondent reports.
The accident took place at Dholagach area on Saidpur-Nilphamari bypass road at around 10pm on Sunday night, locals and witnesses told.
The identities of the victims were not immediately confirmed, but they all are aged around 18 to 20 years, Shahajahan Pasha, OC Saidpur police station told.
Seven injured were rushed to the Saidpur 100-bed Hospital, some among the injured were in critical situation, told Shahajahan Pasha.
He also confirmed that Fire and Civil Defense team members rescued eight bodies from the spot.
A group of young men were returning to their home Deviganj in Panchagarh on that ill fated pickup after enjoying a day long picnic at ‘Swapnopuri’ in Dinajpur as a part of eid celebration. But their eid joy turned into a tragic incident as a passenger bus hit behind their pickup and ran away.
