BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said party chairperson Khaleda Zia will not go to Combined Military Hospital (CMH) for her treatment.
He informed this at a press conference in party’s Naya paltan central office on Sunday noon.
Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir also urged the government to take Khaleda Zia to the United Hospital immediately for her better treatment.
The BNP Secretary General said, “We came to know from the family members, who met with Khaleda Zia in jail on Eid day, that her physical condition has deteriorated. She is not able to walk on her own. Under this circumstance, we are urging the government to take her to United Hospital for better treatment immediately.”
Mirza Fakhrul also said Khaleda Zia has confidence in the treatment of the United Hospital and she will not take treatment from anywhere else.
"Khaleda Zia is a leader of the people and her life is extremely valuable to us. And we will release her from jail through movement.”
The press conference was attended by BNP Standing Committee Member Mirza Abbas, Goyesshor Chandra Ray, Vice Chairman Professor AZM Zahid Hossain and Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi among others.
Earlier in February, a Dhaka court has sentenced five years imprisonment to Khaleda Zia in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case. She was sent to central jail in Dhaka’s old town following the verdict.
