Tauquir Ahmed directed film Haldaa won four awards at the 8th SAARC Film Festival 2018 held in Colombo, the capital city of Sri Lanka from May 22 to 27.
Haldaa, one of the two films from Bangladesh, competed with 13 others from eight South Asian countries in the festival.Haldaa won the best film, the best cinematography, the best editing and the best music category awards.
The award giving ceremony held on Sunday, Tauquir was present at the awards ceremony.
Tauquir on his facebook verified page posted photographs holding four awards in Colombo.
Haldaa, Tauquir’s fifth directorial venture, was released in last December and won the best director award participating at the 16th Dhaka International Film Festival 2018 held in January.
The film ‘Haldaa’ revolves around the fishermen of the Haldaa River.
The film casts Zahid Hasan, Mosharraf Karim, Nusrat Imroz Tisha, Fazlul Rahman Babu, Shahed Ali, Dilara Jaman and others.Azad Bulbul has written the story of the film.
Besides Halda, Akram Khan directed Khancha participated at the main competition of the festival. While, Morshedul Islam’s Ankhi O Tar Bondhura and two Bangladeshi short films—Josim Ahmed’s Daag and Mrittika Goon’s Kalo Megher Bhelay participated at other categories of the SAARC Film Festival 2018.
