Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said new relation has been introduced between Bangladesh and India by the inauguration of Bangladesh Bhaban.
The prime minister said this while inaugurating ‘Bangladesh Bhaban’ at Visva-Bharati University at Santiniketan in West Bengal on Friday.
She said one crore Bangladesh refugees took shelters in India during Liberation War in 1971. India also trained freedom fighters during Liberation War. This is very rare example that India drew their great countribution for neighbouring country.”
“I and my younger sister Sheikh Rehana took shelter in India in 1975 when bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his most of the family members were killed,” she said.
“We also exchanged enclaves. we can solve any problem by our friendly relationship,” she said.
She thanked Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving chance by inauguration of Bangladesh Bhaban.
Minister Narendra Modi said Visva-Bharati has been fulfilled as Sheikh Hasina took part on the University convocation.
Narendra Modi thanked Bangladesh Prime Minister and its countrymen for inaugurating Bangladesh Bhaban at the University.
The Prime Minister said "Bangabandhu took Bangladesh into Least developed countries (LDCs). Now we have been recognized as Developing countries."
She also said Rabindranath Tagore wrote National Anthem for both countries Bangladesh and India. Even he wrote his most of poems in Bangladesh.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arrived Kolkata on Friday morning on a two-day official visit at the invitation of her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi.
