Two killed in seperate road, rail accidents

CHATTOGRAM: Two persons, including an adolescent boy, were killed in separate road and rail accidents at Hathazari and Sitakunda upazilas in the district on Friday.  

The deceased were identified as Md Shaon, 14, son of Md Mujib of Gohira area under Raozan upazila and Md Mohiuddin, 45, son of Md Naderuzzaman, of Boro Darogarhat area under Sitakunda upazila.

Sources said a furnace oil-laden wagon ran over Shaon while he was walking alone the railway track at Dewanganj under Hathazari upazila at around 4:00pm.

The accident left the adolescent boy killed on the spot, said Officer in-Charge (OC) SM Shahidul Islam of Government Railway Police (GRP) Chattogram station.

On the other hand, a container-laden vehicle knocked motorcycle of Mohiuddin at Shuklalhat on Dhaka-Chittagong highway under Sitakunda upazila at around 2:30pm.     

The accident left Mohiuddin critically injured. He was sent to Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared him dead, said Highway Police Kumira camp In-charge Md Masud Alam. 

Mohiuddin was president of Boro Darogarhat trader’s association, he added.
