Three top BNP leaders went to old Dhaka central jail to meet their party Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and standing committee members Mirza Abbas and Nazrul Islam Khan entered into the jail around 3:30pm.
The jail authorities, however, took them inside the jail around 20 minutes later.
Earlier on April 19, the three BNP leaders failed to meet Khaleda as she could not come down to the ground floor due to pain in her knees.
Earlier in the day, three personal doctors of the BNP Chairperson feared that she can be crippled and lose her eyesight if she is not given proper treatment immediately in any specialised hospital.
Fakhrul said their ‘critically ill’ chairperson cannot be taken to a specialised hospital for better treatment as a file in this regard remains stuck at the Prime Minister’s Office.
On February 8, Khaleda Zia was sent to jail after a special court sentenced her to five years’ rigorous imprisonment in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
