Eminent educationist Prof Abdullah Abu Sayeed on Friday said no one can achieve anything good unless he or she is morally strong.
He made the remarks while addressing a flag-off ceremony at the Jatiya Press Club for a mountaineering expedition to Lhakpa Ri, a 23,113-foot Himalayan peak in Tibet.
At the programme organised by Bangla Mountaineering and Trekking Club, the expedition flags were handed over to three mountaineers -- MA Muhit, Bahlul Maznu and Shayla Parvin.
Muhit will lead the 25-day expedition which will begin on May 2 from Tibet’s Kerung border.
Prof Abu Sayeed said the seniors who will lead the youths will must be competent and morally strong. “Or else, the young generation will fall in danger,” he said.
Noted economist Dr Hossain Zillur Rahman underscored the need for hard work, perseverance and mental preparation for achieving any success. “It’s not true that good health is needed only for acquiring a mountain. Physical and mental health is required in all spheres of life. This will bring success and help overcome challenges,” he said.
Chief Operating Officer of Paragon Agro Ltd Molla Mamun Monowar, Managing Director of Emkay Enterprise Ltd Muntasir Kareem and Arla Foods Bangladesh Ltd Deputy General Manager Ahmed Kabir also spoke on the occasion.
Paragon, Emkay, Arla and Azim Group will sponsor the expedition.
