Director General-level border talks between Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Indian Border Security Force (BSF) will formally begin at BGB Pilkhana headquarters in Dhaka on Tuesday, reports UNB.
A 10-member Indian delegation led by BSF director general KK Sharma arrived in Dhaka on Monday to attend the formal talks.
As part of the conference, a friendly Kabady match participated by the members of the two border forces is scheduled to be held at Bir Uttam Fazlur Rahman Khandker auditorium inside the Pilkhana on Monday evening, said public relations officer of the BGB headquarters Mohsin Reza.
The formal talks will end on Thursday following signing a Joint Record of Discussion.
BGB DG Major General Md Shafeenul Islam will lead the 15-member Bangladesh delegation in the conference.
Like previous DG-level conferences, the Bangladesh side will also give more emphasis on stopping border killings in this conference, said Reza adding that various border-related issues, including the smuggling of drugs and arms and ammunition, setting up of effluent treatment plant inside India of Akhaura International Check Post (ICP) and enhancing mutual confidence between the two border forces are likely to come up for discussion.
