The Sri Lankan Cricket Board (SLC) has been benefited hugely by arranging recently concluded Nidahas Trophy, said Mr. Thilanga Sumathipala in the annual post-Avurudu speech.
He said, SLC earned Rs 94 crore in profit from the tri-series participated by host Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and India.
“This is the first time Sri Lanka was ever involved in roping in high profile commercial stakeholders through the Nidahas Trophy that required enormous ground work. This was meticulously done. A profit of RS. 900 million had been reaped from a total revenue of Rs. 1.3 billion. Just one over in a match had been marketed for US $27, 000,” Sumathipala was quoted as saying in srilankacricket.lk website.
Being instilled with the success, the SLC is now going to arrange a domestic T20 cricket league, the Lankan Premier League (LPL) later this year.
