Titumir College student Rajib Hossain, who lost an arm in an accident between two buses in the city, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on early Tuesday. He was under going treatment there.
Rajib’s maternal uncle Jahidul Islam told media that he breathed his last after Monday midnight.
Sub-Inspector Bachchu Mia at Dhaka Medical College Hospital police camp also told that Rajib passed away after Monday midnight.
Rajib had been placed on life support for last seven days as he began experiencing difficulty breathing at the ICU around 4am on April 10 (Tuesday). He also seemed less ‘conscious’ of his surroundings.
According to Dr Shamsuzzaman, the chief of the medical board formed for his care, Rajib had broken bones in the front and back of the head in that accident. The front of the brain was also affected.
The undergraduate student lost his arm on Apr 3 due to the reckless driving of two buses belonging to BTRC and Swajan Paribahan. The arm was crushed between the two buses and severed above the elbow.
Rajib was first admitted to Panthapath’s Samorita Hospital. Later, he was transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and a medical board was formed for his care.
