BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Thursday said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has ‘frustrated’ the entire nation through her announcement in Jatiya Sangsad abolishing the quota system in government jobs.

“The head of the government’s announcement to put an end to the quota system is contrary to the constitution. There is a dirty trick in this announcement to suppress the protest,” he said.

The BNP leader came up with the statements at a press conference at its central office in Nayapaltan of the capital.

He said students and job seekers are carrying out the movement demanding reformation of the system, not an end to the system.

Rizvi said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, has made the announcement out of her anger and without properly evaluating the demand of the demonstrating students.

“The Prime Minister has again violated her oath through this announcement,” he said.

The BNP leader said if the Prime Minister’s announcement is implemented, it will be invalid in the court if anyone files a writ petition against it.
