Bangladesh will be best country in South Asia: Prime minister

 

Giving credit to all for Bangladesh's graduation to a developing country from the least developed country (LDC), Prime Minister and Leader of the House Sheikh Hasina urged the countrymen to work unitedly to keep up this success.

 

"I want to say by extending my thanks to those who worked together for this success and those who contributed to the development that this achievement is an achievement of all," she said on Wednesday in reply to a starred question from treasury bench member Begum Fazilatunnesa Bappy (women seat-30).

 

The premier added: "We've to retain this achievement and for this all will have to work unitedly ... Bangladesh will be the best country in South Asia."

 

The Leader of the House also reiterated her determination to build a middle income country by 2021 and a developed one by 2041. "We'll advance in establishing a happy and prosperous Sonar Bangla as dreamt by Bangabandhu by keeping up our irresistible advancement," she said.

 

Sheikh Hasina hoped that the people of Bangladesh would stay beside with the government in this successful advancement.

 

The prime minister said The Statistics International, an international research organisation of Singapore, in its recent report has given recognition to her as the second best prime minister in the world.

 

"The organisation gave the recognition to me for sheltering over a million persecuted Rohingya people to Bangladesh and drawing attention of the world people on the issue," she said expressing gratitude to Almighty Allah.

 

Sheikh Hasina said she got the overwhelming support of the people of Bangladesh including the Awami League leaders and workers while going to work for development of the country.

 

"For this, the name of Bangladesh is being uttered with honour at home and abroad," she said.

 

The premier said the year 2018 will remain specially memorable for Bangladesh's economy as the country achieved primary recognition of the developing country on March 17, the 99th birthday of the Father of the Nation.

 

"Bangladesh, which remained in the LDC list for 42 years, for the first time fulfilled the eligibility of coming out of the (LDC) list," she mentioned.
