It was music to the ears when band Dohar and eminent folk singer from Bangladesh, Jamaluddin Hassan Banna, performed at an auditorium in Kolkata on Sunday evening.
The musical show was part of a workshop conducted by members of Dohar where several upcoming folk singers participated.
In the workshop, the singers were taught how to direct folk music shows along with discussions on folk songs from different regions.
Around 75 participants from the session got a chance to perform along with Jamaluddin Hassan Banna at the show.
Under his direction, the participants presented two songs, Bole boluk loke mondo by Abdul Karim and Din gele din aar paabe na by Jalal Uddin.
“We are overwhelmed by the response to the workshop. We will continue to organise such enriching sessions with veteran folk artistes and researchers once in every six months,” said Rajib Das, a member of Dohar.
