6 Chuadanga cops withdrawn

 

Six policemen, including five sub-inspectors, have been closed to district police line over conducting drive in the areas under another police station without informing the senior  officials.

 

The action was taken against sub-inspectors Md Kamruzzaman, Indrajit Sarkar, Romen Das, Kamrur Hossain, Yusuf Ali and constable Jasim Uddin of  Sadar Police Station on Thursday night.

 

Mahbubur Rahman, superintendent of Satkhira police, said  the six plainclothes police conducted the drive at Singnagar village in Jibannagar upazila on Thursday afternoon.

 

During their drive, they beat up several villagers, alleged locals.

 

Later, the authorities concerned withdrew the policemen, reports UNB.

 

Meanwhile, a two-member probe committee, led by additional superintendent of police Tariqul Islam, has been formed to investigate the incident, said the SP.
