Yoga for clean city

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Mohammad Sayeed Khokon on Wednesday said that meditation and yoga can play an important role in building clean life and clean city.


The DSCC Mayor came up with the remark at a symbolic programme of meditation and yoga in the city’s Ramna Park Wednesday early morning. The DSCC organised the programme as part of week-long Clean Dhaka campaign.


Speaking as the chief guest in the programme, Sayeed Khokon called upon the city dwellers to do yoga exercises to build a clean and healthy body. "There is no alternative to yoga for body and mind combination.”


President of Federation of Workers Association, Ramna Park, AR Khan presided over the programme. General Secretary of Bangladesh Yoga Association and former Director General of BTV M Hamid was present as special guests.


The DSCC Mayor said, yoga exercise is the best way to coordinate between body and mind. “If we think about our past, it hurts us and even if we think about our future, it also makes us worried.”


Later, the mayor participated in yoga exercise titled – ‘Transparent thinking is healthy mind” with others at Ramna Park.


Meanwhile, the DSCC mayor also attended a seminar on role of grassroots level leaders to eliminate Tuberculosis chaired by DSCC’s Chief Executive Officer, Khan Mohammad Bilal in the Bank Floor Seminar room of the Nagar Bjaban.


Later, he visited the ongoing cleanliness activities in different areas of Dhanmondi.
