A Satkhira court on Sunday sent to jail 18 local leaders and activists of BNP and Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, including former MP Kazi Alaluddin, in a case filed on sabotage charge.

District and Session’s Court Judge Md Sadequl Islam Talukdar passed the order when they surrendered before his court and sought bail, said public prosecutor of the court Advocate Osman Goni, reports UNB.

Court police inspector Amal Biswas said the BNP and Jamaat leaders and activists, including Kazi Alaluddin, also a member of BNP central executive committee, were accused in the case filed with Kaliganj Police Station for sabotage.

They secured six weeks’ interim bail from the High Court (HC) in the case, he said, adding that on expiry of their bail term, they surrendered before the court and sought bail.
