Diplomatic missions of Bangladesh abroad remembered Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on his 99th birth anniversary on Saturday.

In observance of the Birthday that is celebrated as National Children’s Day, the Bangladesh High Commission in Islamabad, Pakistan held elaborate programmes.

Members of expatriate Bangladesh community, officials and staff of the High Commission, along with their families, participated in the day-long programme.

On the occasion, the Chancery building and premises were nicely decorated with colourful paper-made chains, balloons and other glittering materials.

The celebrations started with the placing of a floral wreath at the portrait of the Father of the Nation by High Commissioner to Pakistan Tarik Ahsan.

That was followed by cutting of a birthday-cake and reading out of the messages released on this occasion by the President, Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and the State Minister for Foreign Affair.

High Commissioner Tarik Ahsan also delivered speech at a discussion on the life and works of Bangabandhu.The Bangladesh Embassy in Hanoi, Vietnam also celebrated the day in a befitting manner.

Bangladesh Ambassador to Vietnam Samina Naz launched the celebrations by hoisting national flag in the morning.

Syed Abu Hossain MP, Shafiqul Islam Shimul MP, and Abdur Rahman Bodi MP attended the programme.

The Bangladesh Embassy in Riyadh, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia also celebrated the occasion amid much festivity and fanfare.

Bangladesh Ambassador to the kingdom Golam Mosih opened the celebrations by placing wreath at the portrait of Father of the Nation in the morning.

The celebration featured discussion, film screening, reading out messages by President, Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and State Minister for Foreign Affairs and special munajat.

The Bangladesh Embassy in Tokyo, Japan arranged elaborate programme in memroy of the Father of the Nation on Saturday.Bangladesh Ambassador to Japan Rabab Fatima placed floral wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the morning.

Memberes of the Bangladesh community, staff of the embassy and their family members participated in different events of the celebration.

The Bangladesh Embassy in Ankara, Turkey also celebrated the birthday of Bangabandhu and the National Children’s Day with due grandeur on Saturday.

As part of the celebration, the embassy arranged drawing contest for children at two schools in the Turkish capital.

After the contest, Allama Siddiki, Bangladesh ambassador to Turkey handed over certificates and crests to the participants at an award giving ceremony as the chief guest.

The Bangladesh Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand also marked the occasion in a befitting manner on Saturday.

On the occasion, the Embassy has taken an initiative to gift Thailand the “Bangabandhu Chair” at the AIT and also translation of his historic 7th March speech into Thai language.

The Embassy also organised a thematic painting competition on ‘Bangabandhu and Bangladesh” for children aged between 2 to 18 on its premises.
