Elderly journalist and a former news editor of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Syed Mahmud died of old age complications last night. He was 78.
Family sources said he breathed his last at United Hospital in the city around 10.30 pm on Friday.
He left behind wife, two daughters, a host of relatives and admirers to mourn his death.
His namaz-e-janaja will be held on National Press Club premises after Zuhr prayers. Later, he will be buried at the graveyard in city's Mirpur Journalists Residential Colony.
Mahmud, also a permanent member of National Press Club, started his journalism career by joining Bangladesh-Press International (BPI). He later joined Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS).
He also worked for different media organisations and actively connected to various sports and sociocultural organisations including Bangladesh Scouts.
