Former Indian cricketer, commentator and cricket expert Sanjay Manjrekar hopes Bangladesh ODI captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza changes his mind and returns to lead Bangladesh in T20 Internationals.
Bangladesh performed poorly in two T20Is against Sri Lanka under stand-in captain Mahmudullah Riyad. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan Papon recently revealed that he wants Mashrafe to be back in T20Is.
According to Times of India report, Indian cricket expert Manjrekar hopes Mashrafe returns to T20I cricket and lead Bangladesh in the format. He thinks good leadership always plays a key role.
“Let’s hope that Mashrafe Mortaza returns to lead Bangladesh in T20s, he is an impressive tactician. Good leadership always plays a key role in an emerging team when it’s looking for world acclaim,” said Manjrekar.
After being requested by BCB boss Papon, Mashrafe still stays firm on his decision.
Mashrafe announced his retirement from T20Is last year in Sri Lanka. That was a sudden decision taken by him. It has been spoken many times that he was pressurized to retire from the format. Since then, Shakib Al Hasan was named Tigers’ regular T20I skipper.
