Two win ‘Syed Waliullah Literary Award’

Expatriate Canadian Poet Masud Khan and UK expat Poet Mujib Irm received Bangla Academy conferred "Syed Waliullah Award 2017'' for their literary works in Bangla.


Bangla Academy introduced the award in 2011 at Bangla Academy Book Fair in London to recognise the writers in abroad for their special contribution in the field of exercising Bengali language, literature and culture.


Masud Khan is a poet and writer from Bangladesh. He did his Bachelor degree from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology and Masters from Royal Roads University, Canada. Over past two decades, his writings have been featured in newspapers and magazines in Bangladesh, India, USA, UK, Belgium, Romania, Malaysia and Canada.


A certificate, a crest of honour and Tk 50,000 will be handed over to each them at the concluding ceremony of the Amar Ekushey Grantha Mela.


Earlier this award was known as "Bangla Academy Probashi Lekhak Award".
