A nine-day book fair, on the occasion of International Mother Language Day-2018, will begin on DC hill and its surrounding areas from February 20.

City Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin will inaugurate the fair as the chief guest.

Niaz Morshed Elite, president of Chittagong Khulshi Club and also member secretary of Ekushey Mela Parishad, disclosed this at a press conference held at Chittagong Press Club Auditorium this noon.

"A total of 15 creative publication organisations will take part in the book fair," he said, adding that over 40 stalls were set up at the fair venue.

The fair would be held under the auspices of Ekushey Mela Parishad.

Chairman of Ekushey Boi Mela Parishad and also acting President of Chittagong City Awami League Mahtab Uddin Chowdhury, Muktijoddah Noymuddin Chowdhury, President of Chittagong Union of Journalists (CUJ) Nazim Uddin Shyamol, Ekushey Boi Mela coordinators Showkat Ali Selim and Khurshed Alam were present, among others, at the press conference.

The Ekushey Mela Parishad has been organising the fair since 1993 and it got a wide range of publicity in the port city.

The fair will remain open for visitors from 10 am to 10 pm every day.
