Speakers at a seminar in Dhaka University emphasized the need for modernization of the government foundation training to make the training more effective.
They also stressed on the need for modernising training facilities, expanding training periods, applying latest technologies and appointing skilled trainers.
Speaking at a seminar styled Effectiveness of Foundation Training: In the Perspective of Bangladesh Civil Service (Information Cadre), the academics and government officials came up with the observations.
The Center for Advanced Research in Arts and Social Sciences (CARASS) arranged the seminar at Dhaka University’s Lecture Theatre on Tuesday.
Tohidul Islam, Senior Information Officer at the foreign affairs ministry presented the keynote paper at the seminar.
With Professor Delwar Hossain of Dhaka University in the chair, additional principal information officer Fazle Rabbi, and Prof Toyobur Rahman of Dhaka University spoke on the occasion.
In his paper, Tohid came up with a set of recommendations for the government of Bangladesh and National Institute of Mass Communication to improve the quality of the foundation training.
He emphasized the need for specialised trainers, extension of duration, module updating, more practical knowledge, technology upgradation, familiar with advanced management system, and motivational activities.
Tohid also urged for ensuring sufficient budget saying the government should liberally think of allocating sufficient budget to conduct the training effectively.
