Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus Padmaavat, starring Deepika Padukone in the lead role, has marched through the Rs 250-crore mark and continues to spell its magic in India.
Padmaavat, starring Deepika, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh, grossed Rs 250-crore on February 11 by collecting Rs 8-crore on its third Sunday.
Despite the intense competition from Akshay Kumar’s Pad Man, Bhansali’s film finally march past the glorious feat and has collected Rs 253.80 crore.
As per Taran Adarsh’s tweet, Padmaavat is still dominating the box office in India and has emerged as the first Rs 250-crore film of 2018.
But that’s not all. Padmaavat is indeed a special film for the entire team as Padmaavat is the highest grossing film of Bhansali and the lead actors– Deepika, Shahid and Ranveer.
The film has emerged as a true winner despite all the controversy surrounding the film with universal acclaim pouring in for the film and its box office numbers speak for itself.
Padmaavat had a marginal drop in the third week during the weekdays but the film picked up business in the weekend and collected a sum total of Rs 17.80-crore in the third weekend.
The film has already grossed the Rs 250-crore mark in India and is on a record breaking spree worldwide by surpassing some of the biggest Bollywood blockbusters.
Now with the film entering the crucial fourth week, it will be interesting to see the final figures of the film as it has stiff competition from Akshay’s Pad Man and a much awaited Aiyaary making its way to the big screen on February 16.
Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Padmaavat released worldwide on January 25.
