4 of a family among 5 killed in Sunamganj road crash

Five people, including four members of a family have been killed and 20 people injured following head-on a collision between a bus and a private car on Sunmaganj-Sylhet highway in Pagla area of Dakkhin Sunamganj upazila of Sylhet, UNB reports.

 

The deceased were identified as Abdus Shahid, 70, his wife Hafsanul Begum, 60, their son Kabir Ahmed, 40, daughter Afsunnesa, 35, and driver Sabbir Miah, hailing from Birpur village in Chukerbazar union under Jalalabad Police Station.

 

Jakir Hossain, sub-inspector of Dakkhin Sunamganj Police Station, said the Sylhet-bound bus collided with the Sunamganj-bound private car around 12pm on Wednesday morning, leaving four passengers of the private car dead on the spot and the driver critically injured.

 

Later, the injured driver died on the way to hospital.

 

On information, police recovered the bodies.
