4 fishermen abducted in Sundarbans

Forest robbers kidnapped four fishermen, including two siblings, from Pakratola canal in the Sundarbans under Satkhira range early Friday.


The kidnapped fishermen are Shine Gazi, son of Bakkar Gazi, Alim Sheikh, son of Sobhan Sheikh of Parshekhali village and Ramjan Gazi and Kawser Gazi, sons of Azam Gazi of Koikhali village of Shyamnagar upazila, reports UNB.


Sazzadur Rahman, one of the fishermen who escaped from the kidnapping, said, they went inside the Sundarbans early in the morning where a gang of forest robbers, ‘Don Bahini’  picked up four of them and demanded Tk 5 lakh for their release.


Officer-in-charge of Shyamnagar Police Station Syed Mannan Ali said they did not find any complaint yet in this regard.


“Stern action will be taken against the culprits involved after getting complaints from the family members of the victims.”
