Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Thursday told Parliament that online general diary (GD) entry system could not yet be introduced in every police station across the country due to some problems appeared with GD activities.
"Some problems appeared with online GD activities. So, this has not been possible to introduce online GD entry system in every police station," he said while responding to a starred question from Awami League MP Bazlul Haque Haroon (Jhalakathi-1).
In March 2010, the online GD entry system was first introduced in all the police stations of Dhaka Metropolitan Police as a pilot project taken to introduce the system in all police stations across the country, the minister said.
He said the process of developing Online GD (Lost and Found) Software continues with financial assistance from the Serving Innovation Fund of the a2i programme of the Prime Minister Office.
Bangladesh Police has already signed an agreement on NID data sharing, he added.
"It'll be possible to introduce the service after the integration of online GD software with NID and BRTA databases," the Home Minister said..
