BNP-backed previous mayoral candidate and its executive committee member Tabith Awal has submitted his nomination form for Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) mayoral race.
Tabith Awal submitted his nomination form to BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi at the party’s Nayapaltan central office around 10.30am on Monday.
BNP-backed candidate Tabith Awal, last year’s contender, has submitted his nomination form for the mayoral race of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC).
He submitted his nomination form to BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed at the party’s Nayapaltan central office at around 10.30am on Monday.
Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed accepted the nomination from Tabith Awal who contested last DNCC election against deceased mayor Annisul Huq.
Four other aspirants willing to contest the by-polls with BNP ticket have also submitted their nomination papers.
They are-- Dhaka City (North) BNP President MA Quayum, its Assistant Publication Secretary Shakil Wahed, expelled BNP leader Major (retd) Akhtaruzzaman and its central leader Asaduzzaman Ripon.
According to the party sources, the BNP will finalise the nominee tonight.
As per the Election Commission’s election schedule, January 18 is the last date for filing nomination. And it will be scrutinised through January 21 and 22. The deadline for nomination withdrawal is January 29.
February 26 has been fixed to hold the by-polls to Dhaka North City Corporation, to fill a vacancy following the death of its previous mayor Annisul Huq.
