Information Minister Hasanul Haque Inu on Sunday alleged that the BNP wants to spoil the upcoming national elections by expanding conspiracy.
Talking to the reporters at the secretariat referring BNP’s reaction after Prime Minister’s speech to nation on Friday, the minister said “Wearing the mask of dialogue and democracy they (BNP) are conspiring to thwart the general election,” UNB reports.
“Khaleda Zia and BNP only care about power not development. That is why they can’t witness the advancement of the country. Sitting behind the black glasses Khaleda can’t see the progress,” he said.
Inu suggested Khaleda to take off her sunglasses and look at the country, which he said would help her to see all the advancements.
“No political and constitutional problem regarding the election exists in the country but sometimes militancy wants to rise up with the help of BNP-Jamaat, which is a threat for democratic politics”, he said.
Earlier on January 12 while making it clear that the next general election will be held as per the Constitution, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed her high optimism that all the parties registered with the Election Commission will take part in the polls for upholding the country's democratic process.
Meanwhile, giving BNP's instant reaction to the PM's speech on Friday secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that the nation has got frustrated with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's address to the nation as there is no indication for reaching a political understanding over the next general election which will only deepen the country's existing political crisis.
