Indian Tabligh Jamaat leader Maulana Saad Kandhalvi has returned to his country.
He left Dhaka by a flight of Indian Jet Airways around 10:00 am, airport sources said. Maulana Saad could not attend this year’s Biswa Ijtema as he was barred following protests by a large number of people.
Amid street protests in front of the airport in the capital, Maulana Saad came in Dhaka on Wednesday to join the Biswa Ijtema.
The Islamic scholar had helmed the Akheri Monajat at the second largest congregation of Muslims for the past three years following the death of Maulana Zubair-ul Hasan of India.
Later, following a meeting on Thursday, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan informed that the top scholar of Indian Tabligh Jamaat Maulana Saad will not join the 53rd Biswa Ijtema.
Before his departure, he stayed at Kakrail Mosque in the city.
