Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has imposed restriction on the use of Fanush  (Sky-Lantern) in celebration of any occasion.

With a view to averting any untoward incident, the DMP has imposed the restriction. In this regard, a press release signed by the DMP Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia was issued on Saturday.

The DMP sought cooperation from all concerned and asked to refrain from blowing any type of balloon in Dhaka metropolitan area.

The DMP said if people do not follow the directions, they will enforce the legal procedure for ensuring the safety of the people.

“It is now being noticed that some individuals or groups are blowing the balloons (Fanush) in different parts of the city. Later these fanush are falling in various densely populated areas in the city. There are many security threats, including fire hazards. If it continues, there can be major disasters at any time,” The DMP stated in the release.
