IU ready to receive President Abdul Hamid

KUSHTIA: The Islamic University (IU) Bangladesh,  a sixth major public research universities across the country is ready to receive President Md Abdul Hamid, also the chancellor of the university, for  its 4th convocation  on the campus in Kushita on January 7.

Honorable president will come in Kushtia on January 6 for a two-day official tour to visit the Rabindranath Tagore’s Kuthibari in Shilaidah, Lalon’s Shrine and to the convocation, IU registrar office sources confirmed the matter on Friday.

IU Chancellor M Abdul Hamid will chair at the convocation where Prof Abdul Mannan, president of University Grants Commission (UGC), will be present as the special guest.

Dr M Zafar Iqbal, Professor of Computer Science and Engineering department of Shahjalal Univeristy of Science and Technology (SUST), Sylhet present as the convocation speaker with IU vice chancellor Prof Dr M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari will deliver welcome speech here.

To make the convocation peacefully, the university authority have strengthened the security system with the assistance of law enforcement personnel including RAB, DSB, Police while the university authority installed Close Circuit Television (CCTV) camera to ensure proper safety and the whole campus decorated tastefully for the convocation ceremony.

Two colorful gates have been decorated in front faculty building and Applied Science faculty building with the sign of Statue of Liberty and others design. 

The gorgeous Stage and Pandle made for the convocation with the cost of Tk 33 lakh while the internal infrastructural development of the university including Bangabandhu Moral, Sheikh Russell residential Hall, second phase of Sheikh Hasina Hall and a spectacular fountain are waiting for the inauguration on the day.
