5 bullet-hit in Munshiganj AL factional clash

At least five people, including two women and a minor girl, received bullets when two factions of Awami League locked horn in Munshiganj's Amghata area on Wednesday morning.

 

The injured persons are identified as Liza, 30, Mim, 15, Khaleda Akhter, 35, Chalan, 35, and Sajal Hossain. The injured are undergoing treatment at Munshiganj General Hospital.

 

Munshiganj Sadar Police Station OC Alamgir Hossain said: "The followers of Mollakandi Union Parishad Chairman Mohsina Haque Kalpona and former chairman Ripon Patwari locked horn over a previous enmity this morning."

 

The OC also said both sides exchanged fire, hurled crude bombs and vandalised some houses in the area, leaving five people injured.

 

On information, police rushed in and brought the situation under control. None was arrested till 1:30pm.
