National Board of Revenue (NBR) Chairman Md Nojibur Rahman has been appointed as the principal secretary to the prime minister.
The Public Administration Ministry issued a gazette notification in this regard on Sunday morning.
According to the notification, Nojibur, also the Senior Secretary of the Internal Resources Division, will succeed Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury, who concluded his contractual tenure on Sunday.
Nojibur, a 1982 batch civil services officer, served as Environment and Forests Secretary, Statistics and Informatics Division Secretary and Director General of Department of Environment.He also headed the department of environment as the director general.
Born in 1960 in northeastern district of Sunamganj, Nojibur did his graduation and post-graduation degrees in Sociology from Dhaka University (DU).
He also obtained a post-graduation degree in Development Administration in 1999 from Australian National University under the Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan (CSFP).
Nojibur Rahman has authored a number of books, including the ‘Protocol Management and International Etiquette’, which had been highly praised by policymakers and public servants.
Rahman is set to go on post retirement leave from December 30, 2019..
