‘Missing’ Kalyan Party secretary general found, arrested

Police have found and arrested missing Kalyan Party Secretary General MM Aminur Rahman, nearly four months after he went missing.

A team of Detective Branch of police of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested Aminur from Gulshan’s Shahjadpur area around 11:40pm last night, Sheikh Nazmul Alam, additional deputy inspector general of DB said.

The law enforcers detained the Kalyan Party Secretary General after they found his mobile switched on, the police official said.

He was shown arrested in a case filed with Gulshan Police station in February, 2015 in connection with the attack on Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan.

Aminur's brother MM Mizanur Rahman said that DB police informed them over phone around 12 pm that they arrested him last night. Later, he talked to his brother over phone.

DB police also told Mizanur that Aminur will be sent to court.

The leader of the BNP-allied party went missing on the night of Aug 27 while travelling from his house in Dhaka’s Naya Paltan to another house in Savar.
