President seeks more UAE investment in Bangladesh

President seeks more UAE investment in Bangladesh

President Md Abdul Hamid has urged entrepreneurs of United Arab Emirates (UAE) to invest more, particularly in the fields of infrastructure, power and energy, tourism and hospitability in Bangladesh.


The President sought cooperation from outgoing UAE Ambassador Dr Saeed Bin Hajar Al-Shehi in this regard while the latter paid a farewell call on him at Bangabhaban in the city on Thursday afternoon.


During the meeting, he also sought help from the outgoing UAE envoy in UAE employing more both skilled and semi-skilled manpower from Bangladesh, President’s Press Secretary Md Joynal Abedin told journalist.


President Hamid also requested the Envoy to apprise his government to conclude a Visa Exemption (for diplomatic and official passport holders) Agreement between the two countries to facilitate easy movement of people, the Press Secretary said.


About the upcoming Dubai Expo-2020, the President said Bangladesh is ready to extend all possible cooperation to the UAE government in the process of preparation for organizing the mega global event.


The UAE envoy expressed his gratitude to the President for his heartfelt cooperation during his assignments in Dhaka in last four years.


He hoped that the relation between the two countries would be further consolidated in the days to come.
