29th National Rabindra music fest begins in city Wednesday

The 29th “Jatiya Rabindra Sangeet Utshab" (National Rabindra Music Festival) will begin in the city on December 20 (Wednesday). 

Quoting BRSSS Secretary General Sajed Akbar BSS said, with the theme 'Tomar Ganer Padmabane Abar Dako Nimantrane', Bangladesh Rabindra Sangeet Shilpi Sangstha (BRSSS) is organizing the festival at the Shawkat Osman Memorial Auditorium of Central Public Library at Shahbag in the city.

Language veteran and artiste Mustafa Monwar will inaugurate the festival on Wednesday evening, he said.

A total of 110 artistes from across the country and artistes Srabani Sen, Sudeshna Sanyal Rudra and Biswarup Rudra from Kolkata will perform in the music festival, Akbar said, adding that drama and recitation programmes will be included in the function this year for the first time.

Painter Hashem Khan, Flutist Gazi Abdul Hakim and Music Director Doulotur Rahman will be honored in the festival, he said.

In the festival, Lokonatya Dal and Pallabi Dance Centre will perform "Rathajatra" and "Bishmoye Jage Pran" respectively. 

The festival is dedicated to artistes Sudhin Das, Karunamoy Goswami and Abdul Jabbar, Nayak Raj Abdur Razzak, Kazi Arif, Bari Siddiqui, Lucky Akhand, Nazmul Huda Bachchu and Rahiza Khanom Jhunu and late Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Annisul Huq.

The four day music festival ending on December 23 will remain open for all.
