CHITTAGONG: Former Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) Mayor and city Awami League President ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury has been put on life support at a hospital in the port city as his condition deteriorated.
His son Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury Nawfel, also AL city unit organising secretary, told the daily sun that his father was scheduled to be taken to the hospital for dialysis on Thursday.
“But, before taking to the hospital, my father suffered a heart attack. His condition is not good,” said Nawfel, quoting physicians.
He was rushed to private Max Hospital in the city’s Mehedibag area around 4:00pm, Nawfel said, requesting all to pray for his father.
The veteran politician also fell sick at his city’s Chashma Hill residence on November 11. He was admitted to the same hospital with kidney and heart diseases then.
He was shifted to the capital from the hospital by an air ambulance the following day and admitted to Square Hospital.
Later, he was flown to Singapore for better treatment from the capital on November 16.
He returned to Dhaka after treatment in Singapore on November 26 and arrived in Chittagong on Tuesday last.
Mohiuddin who served as mayor for three consecutive terms was vocal and waged movement on different national issues.
