Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has decided to allow a person to carry maximum eight handsets while returning home from abroad.
It has already sent a letter to the Director General of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate in this regard, said BTRC Secretary Sarwar Alam on Thursday.
“Earlier, a homebound person can bring highest five mobile phone sets. Now, every person can carry eight sets two of which can be brought without any duty while the rest paying duty,” he told UNB over phone.
However, if anyone wants to bring more than eight mobile phone sets, the person will have to collect No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the BTRC beforehand, the secretary said.
