As per a decision taken at the November 27 cabinet meeting, the government will observe the first ever National Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Day tomorrow (Tuesday) to make its Digital Bangladesh concept a memorable one.
"By observing the day we will be able to make the publicity about present government's contribution to expanding ICT sector and inspire youths to engage themselves in 4th industrial revolution," State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak said.
The day's program will start by placing wreaths at the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Dhanmandi-32 at 7.30 am, ICT Division sources said.
"A rally will be brought up at 8 am, a discussion will be held at 3 pm at Hall of Fame of Bangabandhu International Conference Center, where National Information and Communication Technology Award-2017 will be given and Concert for ICT will be held at Dhaka University at 5.30 pm," ICT Division Spokesperson Md Abu Nasher told BSS.
The rally will start from National Museum premises and end at Central Shaheed Minar and will be inaugurated by State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak.
Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Prof Md Akhtaruzzman and ICT Division Secretary Subir Kishore Choudhury will take part in the rally as special guests.
"National Parliament Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury will grace the afternoon program as the chief guest. To be presided over by the state minister for ICT Division, the discussion will be addressed by Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on ICT Division Imran Ahmed and ICT Secretary Subir Kishore Choudhury, among others," Nasher added.
An online programming contest will be organized by Young Bangla, youth platform of Centre for Research and Information (CRI) with the initiative from ICT Division. Apart from these, 15 people will be given National Information and Communication Technology Award-2017 for their contribution to expanding ICT sector in the country.
