The 13th Anniversary of Business Students’ Society (BSS) of BGC Trust University Bangladesh was held recently at the campus of the University.
The Faculty of Business Administration organised different programs through six students’ club for achieving the excellence in extracurricular activities in addition to academic attainment.
On the occasion, Director of Rupali Bank and Professor of Accounting of University of Chittagong, Professor Dr. Md SalimUddin, FCMA, FCA delivered his speech as Chief Guest on the different aspects of education and educational power; knowledge and knowledge flow in life; career and career development; and business studies motivating the students for buildingtheir excellent career in the national and global context.
In his speech, Dr Salim explained why “Education is for Excellence” and made a distinction between literate and illiterate citizens. He gave a good number of examples who are illiterate in spite of having formal education.
He also explained how education will brings the knowledge, skills, competency, ability, creativity, intelligence, excellence, etc among the people and contributes towards the sustainable development of the globe.
He elaborately discussed about the influential factors of career development, career personality theories, career types, career indecision and linkage with business education as career.
Dr. Salim told that at present business education identified as global, boundaryless and excellent career path. In this regard, he mentioned different dimensions of business education such as accounting, finance, management, marketing, supply chain management, HR management, innovation, strategy etc. The background pillars of business graduates are the leadership, strategic innovation, operational alignment and continuous learning and improvement by which they are leading the organisation worldwide.
He also pointed out the duties, functions, responsibilities, ethical standards and legal and professional commitment of real business graduates. He concluded his speech by saying that every member of BSS will be catalyst for sustainable development of Bangladesh.
Professor Ranajit Dey, Dean, Faculty of Business Administration, presided over the program. Professor Ajit Dey, Treasurer and Vice Chancellor in charge was the guest of honor.
Professor Dr Md Sarwar, Professor Sudipta Dey, Professor Nurul Huda Sikder, Registrar Mr Aktaruzzaman and many others spoke on the occasion.
