Finance Minister AMA Muhith in Moulvibazar on Friday said the "Rubber-Timber Treatment Plant" will play a vital role in boosting national economy by creating employment opportunities in rubber wood sector, reports BSS.
"Now rubber wood only uses as fuel. We can create more value of the wood through processing in the treatment plant. In this way, the rubber wood will play a vital role in the national economy," the minister said while inaugurating a "Rubber-Timber Treatment Plant" at Srimangal in the district.
Bangladesh Forest Industries Development Corporation (BFIDC) under self-financing established the pressure treatment plant to process rubber wood.
Muhith said the plant will reduce import of quality wood and save foreign currency as well as to create opportunity for re-plantation in existing garden by replacing the old rubber trees.
Environment and Forests Minister Anwar Hossain Manju spoke at the function as special guest while Environment and Forests Secretary Istiaque Ahmad presided over it.
Anwar Hossain Manju urged the private sectors to come forward for setting up more treatment plants across the country.
Among others, Lawmaker of Moulvibazar-3 Syeda Saira Mohsin and lawmaker Yahya Chowdhury were present at the function.
