Members of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) and detectives have arrested the 'mastermind' behind the killing of a businessman from Gulshan in the city.
The arrestee was identified as M Helaluddin, 38, a mid-level Jatiyabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) leader.
Law enforcers arrested Helal from Kalachandpur area at Gulshan on Tuesday along with five pistols and nine bullets, said CTTC chief Monirul Islam at a press briefing at DMP media center.
During the primary interrogation, Helal said he, in association with five others, shot Siddique Hossain Munsi alias Siddique Hossain, owner of a recruiting agency, to death as per the directive of a Bangladeshi expatriate who lives in Europe.
"Four of them entered the recruiting agency and fired 25-26 bullets to complete the mission," the CTTC chief added.
The Bangladeshi expatriate, who is also a JCD leader, is wanted in a murder case filed with Badda Police Station in the capital.
Businessman Siddique Hossain was gunned down by a group of miscreants at Banani in the city on November 14.
